How should you prepare for your first day of prac? What’s the best way to make a lasting impression with school leaders? Josh Cauchi answers these questions and more in this free course on ClassCover Learn.

Whether you’re about to embark on your first round of prac placement or are a little further along with your studies, there are things you can do before, during, and after your placement to ensure you get the most out of the experience.

Course Overview

Introduction

Meet Josh. In the introduction video, get to know your course presenter as he dives into his background and shares an overview of what you can expect to learn in this course.

Here’s a preview of the course:

Module 1: Before you start placement

Here we go. Starting from the beginning, Josh explains the things that you should do before your placement begins to ensure you get the most out of the experience. This includes when you should begin preparing, essential items you will need, and the best way to make a strong impression on your supervising teacher, the principal/s, and of course your students.

Module 2: During your placement

Next up, module 2 will help prepare you for the placement itself. Josh draws on his own experience to explain what supervisors, other teachers, principals, and students expect from prac teachers. You’ll want to grab a pen and take notes for this one as Josh provides a ton of great advice and actionable tips for all student teachers.

Module 3: After your placement

In the final module, Josh will share the things to remember when you are finishing placement as well as steps to take to help you absorb the learnings from the experience. What’s the best way to thank your supervising teacher and the school? What documentation do you need and who is the best person to provide it? How can you best reflect on your placement to ensure you take the lessons into future pracs and your career as a teacher. Module 3 will answer these questions and leave you feeling confident about your upcoming placement.

Summary

You did it! To wrap up the course, Josh will reiterate some of the major points from the course and leave you with a few words of wisdom as you embark on this exciting chapter of your journey to teaching. All the best.
