ClassCover are excited to announce the acquisition of relief teacher booking platform, Relief Ruler. Effective 1st June 2022, this exciting step stands to benefit users of both Relief Ruler and ClassCover by bringing together the two industry-leading platforms.
With the largest database of casual education staff and schools across Australia and New Zealand, ClassCover has a best-in-class booking and deep jobs platform that makes daily casual bookings as well as recruitment for ongoing roles easier for educators and school administrators.
Relief Ruler is renowned as a premiere solution for the South Australian market, with over 300 schools and 3,500 teachers on the platform. Speaking about the acquisition, ClassCover CEO, Ben Grozier spoke of the natural affinity between the two businesses and the benefits the union will bring to Relief Ruler users.

Similarly, Relief Ruler Founder and CEO, Adam Trengrove, explained that through the acquisition, many aspects of the Relief Ruler business that are popular with users will remain unchanged.

The acquisition comes during an exciting period of growth for ClassCover. The last 12 months have seen the introduction of a host of new features, including the launch of a dedicated ClassCover Jobs platform, designed specifically for full-time and part-time roles, and the addition of new job roles to expand the platform to all education staff, including SSOs, teacher aides, and university students with interim approval to teach. With this latest update to the platform, ClassCover is well positioned to be an all-in-one solution for schools to find, hire, and manage staff of all kinds.
This added functionality is already proving popular with both existing and new users of the platform, with a number of new enterprise clients joining ClassCover, including an additional three Catholic education Diocese school networks this year alone, bringing the total number of Diocese clients to six across the country.
Elsewhere in the business, our tutoring arm continues to go from strength to strength, including our partnership with The Smith Family’s Catch-Up Learning Program entering its second year, expanding to over 500 children in need.

Relief Ruler customers can continue to use the Relief Ruler platform unchanged with no interruptions. Your friendly account manager, Rod, will still be available to offer your school the same high-quality assistance and support.
The acquisition does mean that schools can create a free ClassCover profile at any time to use for bookings and to post jobs for full-time, part-time and contract roles.
ClassCover will be integrating popular Relief Ruler features onto the platform which will be included in a product re-vamp due out in the next 6-12 months.
Schools wanting to transition early can do so and benefit from features that aren’t on Relief Ruler, which includes more booking options, access to a thriving Find New Teachers directory, the ability to message teachers on the platform, access payroll reports, post job ads and access a mobile app to manage teacher lists, connect with new teachers and post jobs on the go.

ClassCover Jobs is an education jobs board that is integrated with the ClassCover platform. Schools can post jobs for full-time, part-time and contract positions. Schools can also post ‘Casual Relief Teacher Call Outs’ to get new teachers to ‘apply’ to join your regular booking list.
Educators local to your school are notified when a new opportunity is posted. They can then apply with a cover letter and CV and share their ClassCover profile with is their online CV with accompanying documentation.

However, due to the acquisition, it is worth setting up a free teacher profile on ClassCover so you can apply for jobs and get booked by schools on ClassCover.
We are also offering a free PD course to all Relief Ruler teachers who sign up onto the platform through our ClassCover Learn PD portal (previously named The Relief Teacher Association).
ClassCover offers teachers 82 hours of professional development with our online courses that you can do at your own pace. Our courses are aligned to the AISTL standards and are recognised Australia wide.
We are offering Relief Ruler teachers who sign up to ClassCover free access to one of our popular courses. You can see what free courses are on offer here.
Yes, all Relief Ruler teachers get access to a free course on ClassCover Learn. For existing ClassCover profile holders, you can fill out this request form to claim your access to your free course.
If you haven’t logged in to ClassCover for over 90 days, you will be shown as inactive to schools. If you want to get booked by schools on ClassCover, its worth logging in and updating your availability to show schools you are job ready.
At this stage you will have to manage two calendars for the time being, however we do have a feature we launched recently where teachers can log external bookings via your availability calendar which will show schools that you are ‘Booked Elsewhere’.
We are working with our development team to see how we can sync both Relief Ruler and ClassCover calendars and will have an update on this soon.
