Term 1 Update for Teachers - ClassCover

2024: A Back to School Guide for Teachers

Here’s everything you need to start the new year strong, plus a first look at some brand new features.

Hello 2024! We hope you’re feeling rested and relaxed after the break and are ready to dive into term 1. To help you get there, we’ve put together some helpful reminders to help you book more work through ClassCover. We’ve also included a note on some new and upcoming features.

Let Schols Know that You Are Looking for Work

Did you know that you can use your ClassCover profile to indicate whether you are looking for work? Let’s say you’ve just been booked for a contract until the end of term 1—rather than risk fending off booking requests from schools all term, you can toggle your profile to indicate that you are unavailable for bookings. This will prevent your profile from appearing in school lists, while leaving you free to use other tools like ClassCover Learn and ClassCover Jobs.

Update Your Availability

Keeping your availability up to date is the best way to get booked for work. When schools may only have a few minutes to secure a teacher for the day ahead, they are more likely to request to book someone who has indicated that they are available to work. As we head into term 1, take a few minutes to make sure your availability is up to date.

New Feature: Teacher Report Cards 👀

The Report Card is a new feature aiming to help schools make informed decisions on which teachers they connect with and book for work. Soon, activity like when you update your availability, the last time you logged in, and how regularly you repond to booking requests will be visible to schools on your ClassCover profile. The Report Card will be visible to all schools—whether you have connected with them or not. Keep an eye on your Dashboard—we’ll let you know when the Report Card is released. In the meantime, now is a great time to ensure your availability is up to date and you’re responding to every booking request.

We’ve Updated the Booking Request Flow

We know how important it is for you to receive booking requests fast. To help speed up this process, we’ve streamlined our process to ensure your booking requests get to you faster than ever. Here’s what’s changed:

Faster, more responsive push notifications

We have upgraded our booking request push notifications to ensure they reach you faster, and more reliably. Everyone will notice this chance regardless of whether you are connected to Wi-Fi or using mobile data.

New notification sound on iOS

We have changed the push notification alert for the ClassCover iOS app to a distinct chime. The aim is to ensure booking request notifications are heard loud and clear.

What do you need to do?

To give yourself the best chance of booking work even if you find yourself with limited mobile coverage, it’s a good idea to double check the email address linked to your ClassCover profile is one that you check regularly. This is easy to update from your profile. We also recommend ensuring push notifications are enabled and your phone is not on silent.
