About the Catch-up Learning Program

ClassCover Tutor has been working with The Smith Family to provide thousands of hours of online learning to disadvantaged children from their Learning for Life program. After a successful pilot program this year that produced outstanding results, we are excited to start the recruitment process by collecting EOIs from teachers in Queensland who want to take part in version two of the program commencing in 2022.

What is ClassCover Tutor?

ClassCover Tutor, also known as HomeTeacher, started operating in May 2020 in immediate response to the COVID-19 pandemic and was created to connect ClassCover’s large pool of highly skilled casual teachers to students in need of online learning support due to school lockdowns.

ClassCover Tutor has since grown to provide thousands of hours of catch-up learning to children in need through The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program has also been selected by the NSW Department of Education as one of the four tutoring companies in the state to be the official supplier of COVID ILSP tutors to NSW Public Schools.

About the opportunity

ClassCover Tutor is now seeking new teachers comfortable in working with Lower Primary/Upper Primary and Year 7/8 students. The commitment is 3 hours per week per student during the school Term for Terms 1, 2 and 3 in 2022.

You will need to be highly empathetic and understanding of those from disadvantaged backgrounds and flexible enough to accommodate the challenges associated with this.

Payment for

The pay is a flat rate of $45 per hour for teachers. We acknowledge some teachers are able to command higher rates of tutoring in a private setting. Registering your interest is obviously your choice to make. We ask you to take into account that this is an impact project being run by a charity.

We can report that based on our 2020/21 project, teacher feedback was that the sense of fulfilment, experience, and huge impact teachers had on the students and making a huge difference in young people’s lives added greatly to extra out-of-school income that was highly useful.
