The Queensland Department of Education has officially announced that ClassCover has been selected to support the next chapter of relief workforce management across the state.
Under a 5+2+2 year agreement, ClassCover will partner with the Department as it modernises its systems as part of the new Human Capital Management Solution (HCMS) program, built on SAP SuccessFactors. This includes delivering key system integrations to ensure ClassCover connects seamlessly with the Department’s HR infrastructure, forming a core component of the new digital workflow.
This work includes replacing the long-standing My HR TRACER application with a new, mobile-enabled relief management system and app, powered by ClassCover. The Department has been clear about the goal: uplift system capability, create a more streamlined experience for schools and staff, and put modern digital tools in the hands of the people doing the work.
The partnership begins with a detailed integration program between ClassCover and the Department’s HR systems before moving into a pilot phase and broader statewide rollout.
A Step Forward for Relief Workforce Management
For 15 years, the TRACER team has supported schools across Queensland with high-volume, high-pressure relief workforce coordination.
The new ClassCover-powered system forms the first major deliverable of the Department’s HCMS program and is built to provide:
A modern, mobile experience
Relief staff will receive real-time notifications, update their availability, and manage bookings directly from their phones, giving them flexibility and reducing response times.
A streamlined digital workflow for schools
Schools will have tools designed to reduce the manual back-and-forth and increase visibility over their casual workforce, with more flexibility to manage relief throughout the day.
Smart selection tools
ClassCover’s matching technology will help connect schools with trusted, available staff in ways that minimise disruption to student learning.
Continued central support from the TRACER team
The team’s critical role remains. ClassCover becomes the underlying platform that supports and enhances their work, increasing efficiency.
A collaborative approach, shaped by feedback
The Department has emphasised that this move is about improving the digital experience for schools and staff. Consultation with School Business Managers across Queensland has been central to this decision, with feedback from roadshows playing a key role in shaping priorities.
As Leanne Buller, President of the School Business Managers Association of Queensland, said in the official announcement, the new system is “an absolute game-changer” for school leaders responsible for teacher relief, freeing up valuable time and increasing flexibility during the school day.
We’re committed to continuing this consultative approach throughout the implementation process.
This partnership builds on ClassCover’s longstanding work across Queensland, including Brisbane Catholic Education, the Diocese of Cairns, the Diocese of Townsville, and more than 270 additional independent and private schools already using the platform.
Further updates will be shared as the program progresses.
